Summer, I love Summer. Life is good in the Summer. Life is especially good in the summer when your friends invite you to the lake and you get to spend a long weekend on the boat, drinking beer, eating BBQ, and spending time with the best people.
If you're looking for a fun weekend away from Atlanta, head to Lake Oconee. I think it's the most convenient and most relaxed spot outside of Atlanta.
If you do head that way and are interested in some good eats, check out Kelly's BBQ outside of Covington and the famous Blue Willow Inn. Kelly's is a little off the beaten path, but it was the perfect way to start the lake weekend. And the Blue Willow Inn was the perfect way to end it stacking our plates with a good ole fashioned southern buffet.
